2015 Nissan GT-R Hybrid is a rumored hybrid version of this popular sports coupe. This vehicle was released in 2007 for the first time, but before it was in production, with almost the same nameplate, and it was part of Nissan Skyline line up. High performance Skyline was in production from 1969 until 1974 and from 1989 until 2002.
Before the first GT-R was released two concept vehicles were presented, both on Tokyo Motor Show, one in 2001 and the other in 2005. Production version came in 2007, and was presented in Tokyo during the same year, sales started in December, 2007. It is based on Nissan’s PM (Premium Midship) and it is the only vehicle in Nissan range that is based on this platform, which represents evolved version of Skyline’s FM (Front Midship) platform. For some time now there are rumors about release of the hybrid GT-R.
2015 Nissan GT-R Hybrid Styling
If the plans for this sports coupe hybrid become reality, its exterior styling is probably not going to be much different from the regular version of this car. Maybe it will bear resemblance to the NISMO version, since designers will need to introduce more carbon fiber elements into this model’s body, to decrease its weight. It will also have some additional spoilers, like the massive rear spoiler that will improve downforce of this car, together with wide front splitter.
When it comes to interior of the 2015 Nissan GT-R Hybrid we don’t expect much different layout and design from the regular GT-R. It will come with a same amount of comfort including heated front seats, leather or suede upholstery, 8 way power adjustable driver seat and 4 way power adjustable passenger seat and some of the hi tech features we find in regular model like: trip computer, rear view camera, power entry, locks and windows, heated side mirrors etc.
Under the Hood
Most interesting segment of the new model is going to be the performance. 10 years ago, people will tell you your are mad if you even thought about hybrid version of a sports car. Now due to technological advancement, that is more than possible. There are rumors that the new hybrid version of GT-R will come with redesigned 3,8 liter twin-turbo V6 engine, paired with regenerative hybrid system with KERS technology that was made in cooperation with F1 Williams and Nismo teams. This engine will give 250 additional horsepower and make this model one of the most powerful hybrid cars on the market. New model will be able to reach 60 mph in only 2,7 seconds and its engine will be able to deliver around 800 hp.
